My Mom, My Wonder Woman

Happy Monday beauties and happy 70th birthday to my amazing mom! From the day I started thinking about creating my own blog, my main goal was for it to be inspiring. And with that in mind, I thought this would be the perfect platform to share the amazing and inspiring women in my life with the world. What better name to give this series than Wonder Women and what better person to kick it off with than my mom?! My mom is the strongest and most courageous woman I have ever known. She raised 4 kids on her own after my dad passed away when I was very young. I must say, she did an amazing job raising the 4 of us. We have all grown up to be kind, giving, and responsible adults. She made us her priority, kept us on track, and never gave up on us. Somehow she made it to every dance recital, soccer game, basketball game, crew regatta, and casting. Dinner together as a family was a priority. She taught us responsibility- we all had chores that we were expected to do and we all helped cook dinner. She also gave us the right amount of freedom we needed to grow. She knew our strengths, weaknesses, and limits. School was a priority as well as making the grades she knew we were each capable of. She took us to church (almost) every Sunday as well as making sure we were involved with our youth group. She made a big deal out of holidays and baked amazing treats for all of them- from an Easter Bunny cake to 20 different batches of Christmas cookies, there were alway treats to make the holidays sweeter.

My mom’s inspiration continues as we have all grown into adults. More than anything, my mom enjoys being Nana to her 6 grandkids and has always been very involved in their lives. She has continued to play tennis, and at 70 she can keep up with my hubby on the court. In recent years she trained for and completed her first 5K run (she came in first place in her age division too) and is currently training for another one. She spends much of her free time volunteering at her church and at the local hospital. After being widowed for more than 30 years, she finally found love again and married almost 2 years ago. These two lovebirds travel around the country in their motorhome. Zip lining, hiking, and sipping wine by the ocean are just a few of the adventures they have enjoyed. I can’t wait to see what her next adventure will be! Pour yourself a nice glass of wine, raise your glass, and cheers to my mom! Happy Birthday mom! 70 never looked so good!!

Who are the Wonder Women in your life? Please share, I’d love to know!
