Packing Hack- Matching Separates

Watercolor Style

Happy Friday, beautiful. While preparing for a recent trip to Miami, I challenged myself to pack more thoughtfully. Although I spent half of my life traveling for work or school, I still have the tendency to overpack. I’m the type of gal who doesn’t plan ahead too much… well, at least when it comes to deciding what to wear each day. That also goes for what our plans will be each day on our vacay. My hubby’s work life is so scheduled that when we go away he doesn’t want to have anything scheduled. So, if I don’t know what our plans are and what we’re going to do, I don’t know what activities to pack for. Something casual? What if we go to an upscale restaurant? Will we be sightseeing or going to the markets? Museums?

I discovered a simple packing hack to make sure I had myself covered (no pun intended) for whatever my vacay threw my way. It’s simple. It’s chic. It’s versatile. It’s matching separates. Ok, that might have been a little anticlimactic, but it is a packing game changer. Let me explain- take this beautiful watercolor look from Alexis that I packed for my trip to Miami. It appears to be a jumpsuit, however, it is actually a matching button down top and flowy wide-leg pants. Worn together, as I have here, it resembles a chic jumpsuit that is ready for anything from Sunday brunch to dinner at a trendy hotspot. Want a more laid-back boho vibe? Pair the silky pants with a simple white tank, sandals, a long necklace, and the perfect tote. Want something a little in between chic and cool? Pair this top with white jeans (stay tuned to see this look in a future post), sandals, and a clutch and you’re good to go. This top even looks amazing with white shorts and sandals for a day at the markets. By packing this one outfit, I got at least 4 different looks to go with any of my last minute vacation plans.

What are some of your favorite packing hacks? Please share, I’d love to know.

Click here for another great matching set from last year that I still pack on all my warm weather getaways. I’ve created countless looks out of the oh-so-comfy top and pants.

P.S.- I’m obsessed with Kaiya’s Milly Minis J’adorable tee!! It couldn’t be more adorable (pun intended) or perfect for her.
