Hello beautiful. We went away to the beach for the long holiday weekend to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The resort we stayed at had an amazing fitness and tennis center. I was really excited to hear that they had a Pilates reformer class. I’ve only ever done mat Pilates and I’ve always wanted to try the reformer so I signed up for the class. But then something happened on the way to the gym- my girls begged me to play with them on the beach. My adorable girls and my happy place… how could I say no to that?! So, off to the beach we went. We played on the playground, ran up and down the beach, played chase with the waves, and dug in the sand. I also grabbed a towel and did a little yoga and Pilates while watching Mila and Kaiya splash in the surf. This was the most energizing and motivating workout I’ve had in a long time and I got to do it while watching my girls run free and play without limits. We had so much fun we did it again the next day. The cool sea breeze, the soothing sounds of the ocean, the glorious sunshine, and the smiles on my daughters’ faces created the most perfect setting for a workout.

Whether at home or away on vacation, no gym is needed to get in your workout. Just get out and play. Playing with your kids is a great form of cross training and it keeps you moving in a completely natural way. You’ll also be making lifelong memories with your kids.
