Hello, beautiful! It’s International Women’s Day and to celebrate, I want to share with you something we’re doing to raise strong and independent girls. Mila and Kaiya began taking martial arts classes last fall. I was thrilled when my hubby signed them up for classes, primarily because I want them to be able to protect themselves. I had never seen a martial arts class before so I really didn’t know what to expect when I took my girls to their first class. Wow! I was so impressed. Not only are Mila and Kaiya learning self-defense, but they are also learning about respect, honesty, pride, strength (mental and physical), discipline, self-esteem, and character. All of the students are encouraged to work together and support one another. The older students work with the younger ones, guiding them and encouraging them.
Through their practice of martial arts, I have watched my daughters grow and become more confident. I am looking forward to seeing how this will impact them throughout their life. In the meantime, I can rest easier knowing they have the confidence and character to take them beyond anything they’ve ever imagined and the strength and skills to protect themselves in any situation.
Special thanks to Allana Wesley White Photography for the lovely photos.
