Memorial Day Patriotic Ice Pops

Cherry Blossoms and Ice Pops

On Memorial Day our nation comes together with family and friends to honor our country’s finest heroes. For our family gathering this Memorial Day I made Patriotic Ice Pops inspired by a Martha Stewart (love her!) recipe. I loved the idea of Martha’s Firecracker Ice Pops because the recipe includes yogurt, blueberries, and strawberries- thumbs up for a healthy treat! I tweaked the recipe and made it my own by eliminating the sugar, swapping out the strawberries for luscious cherries, and using organic fruit and yogurt. I love the taste and natural sweetness of pure fruit so I just pureed the cherries and blueberries on their own. Instead of plain yogurt I used plain Greek yogurt and added a bit of this local honey and this local vanilla to give it a subtle sweetness. The result was a hit! I also think I just discovered a clever frozen breakfast treat- fruit and yogurt breakfast pops!! I believe my cherry blossoms would agree!

Here’s how I made the ice pops-

Patriotic Pops First I Pureed 1½ cups each of blueberries and pitted cherries.

Then, I layered the pureed cherries, 16oz plain Greek yogurt (with vanilla extract and honey added to taste), and pureed blueberries into popsicle molds, gave them a little swirl, and froze them for a couple of hours.

To really make these Patriotic Ice Pops pop, I used Winter Park Honey, Mannix Vanilla, and Crate and Barrel Popsicle Molds

    1. Isn’t that a fun idea, especially for summer?! What a genius way to get the kiddos to eat a healthy breakfast!
