Hello beautiful. We’ve had quite a scary week here in Florida. Hurricane Irma devastated the islands of the Caribbean and the entire state of Florida. We are thankful that we came through safe and sound. My heart aches for those who didn’t are so well. I continue to keep all were left in Irma’s wake in my thoughts and prayers.
On a summer vacay to Miami this summer, my girls and I frolicked in the surf in similar styles. Our cherry blossoms dress alike most of the time. From the day we were first untied with our twins, I would dress them in matching outfits. Now that they are a little older and choose their own clothes, Mila and Kiaya still prefer to dress alike most of the time. Matching with mommy sends them over the moon. Unfortunately, many of the mommy and me clothing available is too matchy-matchy and a bit cheesy. Thankfully, I’ve managed to create some mommy and me styles over the years that are more subtle and stylish.
The easiest way to create a stylish mommy and me look is start with a color palate and then go from there. Here, I was inspired by the twins’ adorable off the shoulder ruffle dress in my favorite summer hues. Mila picked this number out from J.Crew Crewcuts. The navy shift dress is adorned with blue and white pinstriped ruffles that create a cold shoulder effect. I chose this J.Crew seersucker ball skirt to play off the pinstripe ruffles. I paired it with an old and trusty simple white tank top to keep the look relaxed and easy. The shades of blue and white, along with the mix of stripes and seersucker, create a mommy and me look that is comfy and chic- perfect for splashing in the waves (which made the twins squeal with delight and surprise).
I would love to know how many of you match your looks with your kiddos. What are your tricks to keep the look stylish and not silly?
